Our team of over 3000 volunteers are vital to the success of Memory Walk. Without our incredible volunteers our events simply couldn’t happen. You will be on hand to help ensure the smooth running of the event, as well as making sure all our walkers have the best day possible!
You will be based either in our event site or out on the route. If you are in the event site, roles could include handing out water and medals, selling our Alzheimer’s Society merchandise and helping decorate our stalls. If you are out on the route you will be both pointing our walkers in the right direction and cheering them on as they go. To find out more please click here.
Most of our volunteer roles will be needed between 08.30 and 13.30 depending on the role. You will receive exact timings from the Memory Walk team closer to the event day. This will be included in your role specific briefing sheet – you will receive this via email.
You will receive updates from the Memory Walk team in the lead up to the event which will provide you with everything you need to know before event day including:
- Role specific information
- Contact details of your Volunteer Manager
- Volunteer FAQs which will include all you need to know about the Memory Walk
- Instructions of where and when you need to arrive
You will be a central part of our fundraising effort to walk for a world without dementia. At the event you have the chance to meet new and like-minded people whilst having a great day out. Volunteering at a national mass participation event also provides you with new skills and experiences to take into your personal and professional life.
It is essential for any existing volunteers to register online or over the phone for this year’s Memory Walk. To ensure the safety of all our volunteers we need to know the most up to date information when you register.
It is vital that you provide us with current emergency contact details and any medical conditions. This enables us to allocate you the most suitable role on the day. As Memory Walk takes place every Autumn, this information could have very easily changed, so please register again to confirm your current details.
Joining our team of volunteers is really quick and easy, click here to choose the walk you would like to volunteer at and complete our registration form.
If you are part of a team eager to help, we would love for you to come along – the more the merrier!
If you are all over the age of 18, simply sign up as individuals on our website.
All youth groups must have a leader (aged over 18) who is responsible for the group on the day of the event. If you are the leader, send us a quick email including the name of the group, how many of you would like to volunteer and the name of the walk you would like to volunteer. We will then be in touch to arm you with everything you need to do. Please send your email to firstname.lastname@example.org
You can only register to volunteer online if you are over the age of 18.
We will need you to download and fill out our paper application form and parental consent form. We do not need references so please leave this section of the form blank. Email these back to the Memory Walk team and we will be in touch closer to the event day.
If you are under the age of 16, you will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the day. As a parent or guardian of someone under the age of 16, please register.
If you would like to join our team of amazing volunteers please register today!
