What to expect on the day

Take the shorter 3.5km walk for a gentle stroll around the common, which is suitable for Memory Walkers of all ages including pushchairs and wheelchairs. The longer 7km walk is two loops of the short route, and is also accessible for all with tarmac paths. Please note all routes and distances are subject to change.

Both routes will start and finish at “The Flats” by Cemetery Lake, where there will be a hive of activity to get everyone ready for Memory Walk. Please note the event site is on grass.  Amongst the excitement take a moment to reflect on who you are walking for and leave a message on the Memory Tree and watch it blossom through the day.

How to get there

Memory Walk will start and finish at “The Flats” by Cemetery Lake, which is located in the centre of the common, a few minutes’ walk from the Douro Memorial. You can access on foot from The Avenue and Hill Lane.

There is no dedicated event parking, please use city centre parking and public transport. Southampton Common is 1.5km walk from Southampton Central Station, and located on frequent bus routes. Visit Southampton Journey Planner to plan your route.

To keep Southampton environmentally friendly please choose the most sustainable method of transport and car share where possible.

Registration will close Thursday 6th September 2018 and you will not be able to register at the event. So sign up now and get your team members to do so too!
