What to expect on the day

Take the shorter 1.5km walk for a gentle stroll along the coastline which is suitable for Memory Walkers of all ages including pushchairs and wheelchairs. The longer 7km walk will take you further along the stunning North East coastal paths, with some muddy patches so don’t forget your wellies and walking boots! Please note all routes and distances are subject to change.

All routes will start and finish at Bents Exhibition Park, where there will be a hive of activity to get everyone ready for Memory Walk. Please note the event site is on grass. Amongst the atmosphere take a moment to reflect on who you are walking for by leaving a message on the Memory Tree and watch it blossom through the day.

How to get there

Memory Walk will start and finish at Bents Exhibition Park which is located just off Sea Road, right by the beach.

There is no dedicated event parking, please use city centre parking and public transport.  Please arrive in good time to avoid queues. Please note that parking off Sea Road is pay & display, and only accessible for arrival before 10:45. Visit South Tyneside council website for information on parking charges.  Bents Exhibition Park is 1.5km walk from South Shields metro station, and there are several bus routes that run close by. Plan your journey here.

To keep South Tyneside environmentally friendly, please choose the most sustainable method of transport and car share where possible.

Registration will close Thursday 4th October 2018 and you will not be able to register at the event. So sign up now and get your team members to do so too!
