What to expect on the day

Both routes follow the Thames Path. Take the shorter 2km walk for a gentle stroll which is suitable for Memory Walkers of all ages including pushchairs and wheelchairs on hardstanding paths.  The longer 6.5km walk will take you further along the Thames Path, loopsing around Thames Valley Park, before returning. This has some shallow steps and grass so not recommended for wheelchairs. Don’t forget your wellies and walking boots!} Please note all routes and distances are subject to change.

All routes will start and finish at Kings Meadows, where there will be a hive of activity to get everyone ready for Memory Walk. Please note the event site is on grass.  Amongst the excitement, take a moment to reflect on who you are walking for and leave a message on the Memory Tree and watch it blossom through the day.

How to get there

Memory Walk will start and finish on Kings Meadow, which is located off Napier Road.

There is no dedicated event parking, please use city parking and public transport. Reading train station is 1km walk away. Hills Meadow pay-and-display car park is 1km walk from the event site (George Street, RG4 8DH).

To keep Reading environmentally friendly please choose the most sustainable method of transport and car share where possible.

Registration will close Thursday 27th September 2018 and you will not be able to register at the event. So sign up now and get your team members to do so too!
