What to expect on the day
Take the shorter 2km walk for a gentle stroll around the lakeside which is suitable for Memory Walkers of all ages including pushchairs and wheelchairs. The longer 7km walk will take you further into the park with some hilly terrain. Don’t forget your wellies and walking boots! Please note all routes and distances are subject to change.
All routes will start and finish at in the centre of Heaton Park, where there will be a hive of activity to get everyone ready for Memory Walk. Please note the event site is on grass. Amongst the excitement take a moment to reflect on who you are walking for by leaving a message on the Memory Tree and watch it blossom through the day.
How to get there
Memory Walk will start and finish in the centre of the park, which is located near the Sheepfoot Lane car park, or by walking down the hill from the Farm Centre.
Event Parking is available, please use postcode M25 0BP and follow Memory Walk signage on the approach to the venue from Middleton Road and Sheepfoot Lane to the car park. Charges of £2 per car apply, and congestion is likely so please arrive in good time to avoid queues. Some parking is on grass. Please follow directions and advice from stewards at the venue.
Heaton Park tram station is less than 1km from the centre of the park, and regular buses stop on the roads surrounding the park. To plan your journey visit Transport for Greater Manchester website.
