What to expect on the day

Take the shorter 2km walk for a gentle stroll around the lake. While it is on accessible pathways, some areas have some hills so please consider this for wheelchair users. The longer 8km walk will take you around the rest of the park. Look out for the beautiful views from the top of the hills! The long route is not accessible to wheelchairs due to uneven grassland ground and hills. Don’t forget your wellies and walking boots! Please note all routes and distances are subject to change.

All routes will start and finish in the field opposite the café, where there will be a hive of activity to get everyone ready for Memory Walk. Please note the event site is on grass. Amongst the excitement, take a moment to reflect on who you are walking for and leave a message on the Memory Tree and watch it blossom through the day.

How to get there

Event parking is available within Mote Park - please use postcode ME15 7RN to the main entrance. Follow Memory Walk signage and marshals to the overflow car parking field, and pay £2 for parking to charity volunteers. Please arrive in good time to avoid queues, and note that parking is on grass. Speak to stewards about disabled parking.

There is no event parking available on Mote Avenue or at the leisure centre. City centre parking and Maidstone train stations are also available, at over 2km walk from the park.

Memory Walkers can be dropped off within the park.  To keep Maidstone environmentally friendly please choose the most sustainable method of transport and car share where possible.

Registration will close Thursday 6th September 2018 and you will not be able to register at the event. So sign up now and get your team members to do so too!
