Alzheimer's Society privacy statement

The Memory Walk website is operated by Alzheimer's Society. This page explains how we use any personal information we may collect about you when you use this website.

What information do we collect about you?

When you register for a memory walk or complete the "Keep up to date with Memory Walk" form, we will collect some information about you.

If you visit this website but do not complete any forms, we will not collect any personal information about you. We do count the numbers of visitors to this website and how many pages are viewed but this information cannot be used to identify you personally.

How will we use your personal information?

When you register for your local memory walk, we use the information that you provide to contact you with updates about the memory walk.

When you provide us with your information, it is added to our supporter database so that we can keep you updated about Alzheimer's Society fundraising and dementia awareness activities. If you do not wish to receive these materials, please indicate this using the checkboxes provided on the registration form. If you decide later that you would prefer not to be contacted by Alzheimer's Society, please let us know using the contact details provided at the bottom of the page.

We do not sell or pass on your information to any third parties for marketing purposes. We may employ other companies to work with us, for example to keep our systems running smoothly or to help us analyse the information we collect. Where we do this, we ensure that your personal information is kept confidential and protected from misuse.

Why do we ask for certain information?

We ask for your date of birth for two reasons - firstly, to prevent us getting confused between individuals who have the same names, and secondly to ensure that our activities and materials are not targeted at minors who may not be eligible to sign up to events without the permission of a responsible adult.
We ask you to tell us your profession as this helps us to develop activities and materials which are useful and interesting to the people who support Alzheimer's Society. You do not have to provide this information if you would prefer not to.

Access to your information

You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all of the information we hold about you, please write to the Information Security Manager at the address provided at the end of the page. There may be a small administrative charge for this service.
We want to make sure that the information we hold about you is accurate and up-to-date. You may ask us to correct or remove any information you think is inaccurate.
Contact details are provided at the end of this page.
