Everyone has their own reason for taking part in a Memory Walk - whether it is in memory of a loved one or to get active for a good cause and we want to hear about it! Please tell us your story by emailing

fiona phillips "My mum had Alzheimer's and now I'm caring for my dad who is living with dementia so I know how vital it is to support people like them, and their carers.  That's why I'm trying to encourage as many people as possible to take part in Alzheimer's Society's Memory Walk - please get involved and help fight dementia every step of the way."

Clare was 21 years old when her father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.  Here she shares her story and explains why she took part in Memory Walk.

"At that point in my life I never realised what an impact that word would have.  Selfishly I expected the same dad and man I knew to continue forever.  My father died in 2006 after a long and difficult road for him and our family.  Aged 27, I felt cheated but the honesty of Alzheimer's Society helped me prepare for those end stages.

The Memory Walk was a wonderful way of helping me feel I could do something.  By walking in his name I have hopefully helped others get the same support I got all those years ago."
