Description Who will you walk for? This 2014 the Manchester Memory Walk returns to the lovely Heaton Park, just 4 miles from Manchester city centre. Choose your route and get walking! It’s a great way to help support people living with dementia in the local area, raise money to help us find a cure and celebrate the people you love.
With loads of family entertainment before and after the walk, the kids can get their face painted, there will be live music, a DJ and refreshments on site as well as a raffle. Both Memory Walks are wheelchair and pushchair friendly, looping around the lake or the perimeter of the park. Pets are welcome, too.
How to get there: Car: Heaton Park is close to the M60 and easily accessible from Manchester city centre. The three main entrances are St Margaret's Rd, Smithy Lodge and Sheepfoot Lane entrances. For parking information see below.
Bus: Many buses travel to Heaton Park, including 56, 59, 64, 64A, 135, 137, 138, 150, 151, 484, 495. If you’re travelling from the city centre, take the number 135 from Manchester city centre and exit at the tram station on Bury Old Road. For the latest transport information and interactive journey planner visit www.tfgm.com
Train: The nearest metrolink tram station is Heaton Park. Trams run regularly from the city centre and other destinations across Manchester.
Parking: Charges are £1.50 per vehicle payable on entry to the park between 10am-5pm. There are disabled parking bays in the Hall and Lake car parks. Parking is free for holders of disabled parking scheme permits provided these are displayed in the car.
